Customer care

Packing tips, prohibited items and our terms of carriage.

Packing guidelines

Packing

  • Use proper transit cartons that are double-walled and strong. Parcels may be stacked, so the box must take the pressure during transit.
  • Choose a box bigger than the goods so there is room for protective packing inside. Under-filled cartons can collapse and overfilled ones can burst.
  • Wrap items separately where you can, and use polystyrene or similar cushioning.
  • Tape all edges with strong tape. Use 'this way up' arrow labels if needed.

Delicate and fragile goods

  • Place them in the centre of the carton, away from the outside walls, surrounded by enough cushioning.
  • With several fragile items, such as cups and saucers, cushion each one and also around all of them.
  • 'Fragile' and 'Handle with care' labels are for information only: never rely on them instead of careful packing.

Liquids

  • Use strong, leak-proof containers sealed with a double wrap of plastic film.
  • Pack them like fragile goods, in separate cartons, so a leak cannot damage other goods.

Writing the address

  • A clearly printed address label is best. Otherwise write the full address clearly on the package in large capital letters with black or dark blue ink.
